So We Choose the middle ground - Shade of Grey
What would I give
To live
Beyond the bars
That jar
The conscience
We possess
When we
Cross the lines
That define
What is right
What is wrong
Though we know
All along
That what we
Choose to be,
The shade of grey,
Is not the solution
But an illusion
We use to convince
Ourselves,
Is the right place to be
Only since
We can’t accept
That all it’s left
Is the black
Found everywhere
With little specks of white.
So what is this
That you read?
Worthless Words
Randomly conceived?
A pointless rant
Aimlessly construed?
Mindless rap?
Thoughtless poem?
Useless drone?
No
It’s an idea
Or two
We might think through
But ignore
What for?
To live
Behind the bars
That define
Who we are
The conscience
We possess
Won’t let us
Test
Or progress
Or cross the lines
Of what is wrong
Or what is right
We’re afraid of both
Black and white
So we choose the middle ground
The Shade of Grey
Beyond the bars
That jar
The conscience
We possess
When we
Cross the lines
That define
What is right
What is wrong
Though we know
All along
That what we
Choose to be,
The shade of grey,
Is not the solution
But an illusion
